Jack P – “I didn’t have any expectations when booking this hotel—it seemed nice enough online. When I arrived, I was a little taken aback. I felt like I was in NYC. The entrance is surrounded by dwarf olive shrubs, and attentive doormen immediately welcomed me inside a secured foyer. The scale of the lobby is astonishing—high ceilings and a massive fireplace. It’s really chic.
I arrived after a long day of delayed travel and just thought, ‘Oh, thank God.’ That feeling when you know you nailed it with accommodations. I had a corner suite that was spacious and well-appointed, with an incredible bathroom featuring a huge bathtub. The room was so nice I invited friends back after dinner, and we ended up hanging out there all night. The service staff was extremely friendly, knew me by name, and made the whole experience feel truly exceptional. Amazing hotel—grateful for the weekend it afforded me.”– May 2024

The hotel looked great, the bed was comfortable, and I appreciated the complimentary bottled water in the room. Plus, the hotel is just one block away from a wonderful 24-hour diner and next to the theaters, making it easy to catch a play. Speaking of good—you folks make really great coffee in the morning too! Reception staff were lovely and really helpful. We visited the bar and restaurant attached to the hotel for a drink but didn’t eat there, though everything we saw looked delicious. Would definitely stay at this hotel again—it was the perfect base to explore the city.”– March 2024

Frank M – “This was the best hotel I stayed in during my last visit to America. Everything was perfect—from the courteous, friendly welcome to the grand staircase (they have elevators too!), the flickering fires in the grand fireplaces, and the cozy library.
Then you get to the room—wonderfully eclectic furniture, a shower and a bath (always a bonus), and free coffee and tea every morning. Oh, and the location? Fantastic—close to Union Square and all the main attractions of San Francisco. When I return to SF, this will definitely be where I stay.”– February 2024

Lillie H – “Loved our stay! The location is great—a comfortable walk to cool spots like Chinatown, art galleries, and cafés. Cable cars can be picked up just a few streets away, and Powell Street BART station is close for easy airport access.
The staff at The Marker were incredibly friendly and helpful—they made us feel so welcome. The rooms are well-sized, beautifully furnished, and decorated with tasteful colors. I think the headboard shape was inspired by cable car armrests—very cool! We loved the sliding door to the bathroom and the shower—surprisingly powerful and easy to use.
The building itself has generous communal spaces, including comfy chairs near fireplaces, sofas, and tables in large windowed areas. Thank you for providing tea/coffee in the morning and the reusable water bottles with refilling stations—that’s a great step toward sustainability.

Barbo B – “Nothing we didn’t love about this hotel. The lobby is simply gorgeous, with plenty of comfortable seating if you’re waiting or meeting friends.
Our rooms were spacious, beautifully furnished, and the beds were heavenly. The 24-hour fitness center was clean and well-maintained—very decent! We ignored the neighborhood warnings from last year. Like all major cities, San Francisco has a houseless population, but we were last here in 2021, and the sidewalk situations have improved. Geary Street is well-traveled, and we never once felt uncomfortable.
